Alex Thomson Walks the Hugo Boss Keel

That is one seriously impressive stunt…

At first glance I was skeptical about this photograph but after further investigation I found this whole story to be completely captivating…and insane! Alex Thomson is a talented sailor from Britain. In this photograph, dressed in his most fashionable Hugo Boss attire, he performed a risky stunt that most people would never dream of doing.

Lucky to Photograph The Wave, Arizona - My Modern Metropolis

Check out these amazing photos by Simon J. Byrne of  The Wave in Arizona…

The Wave is a sandstone rock formation near the Arizona and Utah border that’s famous among photographers for its gorgeous rock formations. Located in the Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness, the renowned Wave is made of Jurassic-age Navajo sandstone or 190-million-year-old sand dunes that have turned to rock. Stacked one atop another, the dunes calcified in vertical and horizontal layers.

Wonderful photos…

As the rest of us run for cover in rainy or snowy weather, French photographer Christophe Jacrot deliberately goes out in the storm. “I see these elements as a fabulous ground for photography,” he says, “an under-used visual universe with a strong evocative power, and with a richness of subtle lights.

This universe escapes most of us, since we are too occupied getting undercover. Man becomes a ghostly silhouette wandering and obeying the hazards of rain or of snow.”

APOD: 2012 January 12 - The Case of the Missing Supernova Companion

Astronomy Picture of the Day delivering amazing images as ever!

Where’s the other star? At the center of this supernova remnant should be the companion star to the star that blew up. Identifying this star is important for understanding just how Type Ia supernova detonate, which in turn could lead to a better understanding of why the brightness of such explosions are so predictable, which in turn is key to calibrating the entire nature of our universe.
